The Bosu

The Bosu

If you are a gym member, you probably have seen a strange looking blue thing that has the shape of a ball, but is cut in half and has a flat surface. This thing is called a Bosu and can make work outs more fun, interesting and challenging.

If you have been working out and are getting bored with your routines, try introducing the Bosu into your workout routine to keep it fresh. Using a Bosu can help you burn more calories, increase strength, get toned, inherit better balance, and open up hundreds of new ways (maybe even thousands) to workout.

So you go to the gym and have been doing standing dumbbell curls for the last two months and almost dread doing it at this point. If you’re ready to feel excited about working out again then incorporate a Bosu in with the dumbbell curls. You can do this by standing on the Bosu (flat side on the floor) while you do the curls. The easiest way to use it (in this case) is standing on it with both feet. You will immediately notice the difference and after doing one set will feel refreshed and maybe even a bit shocked as to how dramatic of a change one simple piece of equipment can make. As a result of doing this, you are not only working your biceps, but also working your core and lower body in order to stabilize yourself.

Thinking of some new ideas for a cardio workout? Use the Bosu to do step-ups with rather then using a bench or some other solid surface. You are still doing step ups, but now have to work on your balance as too. Another quick variation of this is doing side-steps on the Bosu. Again this will get your heart rate up and improve your balance and coordination.

There are lot’s of different things you can do with the Bosu so take advantage of using this in your workouts and get creative. Have a good workout and be safe.
